The NFL named K Matt Stover AFC Special Teams' Player of the Week today. Matt kicked the game-winning 39-yard field goal with 1:49 remaining in windy Heinz Field to give the Ravens a 13-10 victory over the Pittsburgh Steelers last week. Stover, who has connected on 13 consecutive field goals and is 13-of-14 for the season, also kicked a 25-yarder early in the fourth quarter of last Sunday's victory. In his last 71 field goal attempts, Matt has made 66 (92.9%).
Stover has kicked a field goal in 34 consecutive games dating back to Oct. 21, 1999, which is an NFL record, snapping the previous mark of 31, set by Fred Cox of the Minnesota Vikings over the 1968-70 seasons.
Stover is the second Raven to win Player of the Week honors in 2001. Corey Harris was named AFC Defensive Player of the Week for week three. In 2000, five Ravens won Player of the Week honors.
