The Baltimore Ravens will have five players in Honolulu, Hawaii for the Pro Bowl on Feb. 4, 2001. All five were voted as starters. This quintet is: DT Sam Adams (1st time), MLB Ray Lewis (4th), LT Jonathan Ogden (4th), FS Rod Woodson (9th) and K Matt Stover (1st).

The four position starters is an AFC-high, and the three defensive players selected are the most in the NFL (tied with the Dolphins and the Buccaneers). Both the Ravens and Dolphins had five players selected, second in the AFC behind the Titans, who had eight.

Ogden and Lewis, the first draft choices in Ravens' history, have been selected for their fourth consecutive years. Ogden was the fourth choice in the 1996 draft and Lewis was picked 26th in the same first round.

The Ravens also announced that two players were voted as first alternates to the Pro Bowl. These players are DE Michael McCrary and TE Shannon Sharpe. For either to make the Pro Bowl, a player selected in front of them would not be able to play in the game.

"I'm happy for the players who made the team, but disappointed some others didn't get the recognition that comes with making the Pro Bowl," Ravens' head coach Brain Billick said. "When you have a defense like ours, you have a lot of outstanding contributors to your success. It's good that Ray, Rod and Sam made it. McCrary almost made the team again, and I'm surprised Rob Burnett didn't get more attention. He certainly is having a Pro Bowl season."
