ADAMS NOW A FREE AGENT

Adams Continuing cost-cutting moves to get under the NFL's salary cap, the Ravens terminated the contract of DL Sam Adams on Thursday afternoon. The team was unable to reach an agreement with Adams on a restructured contract. Adams
is now a free agent, available to any NFL team. Adams is the 8th starter of the Ravens' defense to be removed from the roster since the end of the season. LB Ray Lewis, LB Peter Boulware, and CB Chris McAlister remain as the only starters. The Ravens have expressed hope that they will be able to reach new contracts with several of the players they have released, including Adams.


Earlier this week, the Baltimore Ravens also waived the following players:
DE Rob Burnett
FB Sam Gash
WR Qadry Ismail
TE Shannon Sharpe
DT Tony Siragusa
OL Kipp Vickers
DT Larry Webster
S Rod Woodson

The Ravens did not make qualifying offers to the following restricted free agents:
FB Obafemi Ayanbadejo
K Danny Kight
LB Brad Jackson

In addition, the Ravens terminated the following contract:
OT Leon Searcy
