Chip Morton assists Jeff Friday, and the likeable duo have achieved remarkable results. The Ravens are 8-0 in December since their strength program was installed in 1999, a testament to the solid conditioning regimen. Chip launched the expansion Carolina Panthers’ strength program, having served as strength and conditioning coach for the Panthers from 1995 through 1998. Prior to his tenure in Carolina, Chip was the San Diego Chargers’ assistant strength and conditioning coach for three seasons (1992-94), culminated by a trip to the Super Bowl following the ‘94 season.
Morton was the assistant strength coach at Penn State for football and 14 other men’s and women’s varsity sports. He was the first-ever full-time strength and conditioning assistant for football ever hired by the Nittany Lions. Before joining Penn State’s staff, Morton served as assistant strength coach at Ohio State University while completing his master’s degree in physical education.
Morton graduated from North Carolina with a degree in zoology in 1985. He was a varsity letterwinner in swimming while at Chapel Hill. He is a graduate of Hamden High School in Hamden, CT.
Chip and his wife, Stacey, have a son, Campbell (1/10/96) a daughter, Abigail (1/29/98) and twins Asher James and Ariel Nicole (2/17/00). The Mortons live in Owings Mills, MD.
