BAND

2001 Season is Underway

The Marching Ravens have e-mail access now! They can be reached at the following address: [email protected]

The 2001 football season is now underway and everyone has big
expectations for the Baltimore Ravens. Likewise, folks are
expecting some pretty big things out of the Marching Ravens,
too. As the Ravens football team are going to be pushed further
into the national spotlight by producing a top-notch season, the
Marching Ravens are also looking to step up and become a musical
showcase for the city of Baltimore and the NFL. Being one of
only two marching bands in the NFL, the Marching Ravens main
goal for this year is to excite the crowd and support the team
to such a level that other teams in the NFL will be clamoring
to have their own bands. We’d be only one of 31 then, but we’d
still be the biggest and best. (Oh…and the Super Bowl wouldn’t
be bad either).

So…you’ve been to the pre-season games and are excited about
the prospects of the upcoming year. So excited that you want
to become further involved and be a part of the action. What
better way to do it then actually being on the field for every
home game? Why not join the band?

But of course, you have nagging questions going through your
mind. Don’t worry, we’ve probably heard them all before.
“But I’ve never marched before?” That’s easy…we can teach
you that. “And I haven’t picked up my horn in years?” Many
of our best members joined after having taken several year
“sabbaticals” from playing. “But I don’t have my own instrument!”
No problem…through a special
deal with Yamaha, the band supplies all brass and
percussion instruments. “I don’t play an instrument.”
There are plenty of non-musical parts to the band including the
flagline, color guard and equipment crew. “But I don’t have the
time?” Well…that one’s a little tougher. You know your
schedule best, but as far as time commitments, Baltimore’s
Marching Ravens practice only one night a week and then of
course performances (occasional extra practices are added as
deemed necessary). We hold open auditions every Wednesday night
from March to December.

So if you’re interested in joining, let us know by filling out
the form on the “Join Us” page or contact us by calling our band
president, John Ziemann, at (410) 557-8335 or fax at (410) 557-6385.

Looking forward to seeing you!!!
